Andrés Cervantes

I am Andrés Cervantes, grandson of Andrés Cervantes Acosta, a corporal in the Republican Army, born in Puerto de Mazarrón (Murcia) in 1919. He belonged to the so-called Baby-bottle Call-up (Quinta del Biberón) and fought in the Battle of the Ebro as a machine gun operator. He never spoke about his combat experiences, mentioning only the hunger and cold they endured, so as not to burden his children with war stories. Only he knows what he had to go through.

We found this photograph hidden in a piece of furniture in the year 2000, many years after his death.
